James Korzelius – Sell Out

4:02
This video was originally titled, "Round-House-Kick-Fail With Fluffy Kittens." Originally written as a commentary about the limits I've unneccessarily put on myself as a writer (and perhaps, a bit, on the state of Pop Music; but mostly the former) this little ditty came about after hearing Owl City's "Fireflies" for the 700th time, and finally paying attention to the lyrics (an exquisite, and masterful read if you want to challenge your soul, friends...) and has nothing to do with that one song by that Canadian. ww.noisetrade.com/MrK I used to dream the dreams I used to plan the plans I used to build the scene With my own two hands I used to have that "thing" That was gonna change the Universe I used to write the lines That made the ladies cry I had the hooks, the rhymes All logic was defied You'd be wrapped around my finger By the middle of the second verse. And if I'd written, "Baby, Baby, Baby..." I would have been a Superstar. There's still time to "get with them..." With the pointless rhymes and the throbbing rhythms You don't need to lay a tired guitar down Sell Out! I used to build a bridge between the lost and the won A perfect Lead-Lined fridge, a perfect smoking gun I used to spin the verses that were going to change the course of things I propped my head up high with vain "Intergrity." Said to myself, "I'm going to own these strings. I'm going to redefine this key." But, what good are the words to a song that nobody sings? If I'd written, "Baby, Baby, Baby..." I would have been a Superstar. There's still time to "get with them..." With the pointless rhymes and the throbbing rhythms You don't need to lay a tired guitar down Sell Out!

James Korzelius EYES WIDE SHUT

3:52
Music/Lyrics: James Korzelius. ©2012 James Korzelius. From the unreleased 2014 LP "Swagger And Sway." Visit www.jktunes.com for additional music, lyrics, and info. Run, baby run! Everything that you thought you knew, That you’d taken for granted Is under the gun By Electric Lights shinier than you By Enlightened Romantics Who topple and trip Over a Hip-Point-Of-View That’s no more substantial than Love Shed Abroad Odd as that seems, love, it’s True And it’s all you ever needed Before. Suddenly, are you needing more? Let’s just get back to that First Thing: Hands up! Hands up! Surrender, baby… Hands up! Hands up! Surrender, baby… Hands up! Hands up! Surrender, baby… Keep your eyes wide shut And see with your heart. Run, baby run! That permeates all you do. You are striving, and frantic For one smoking gun Because everything is something to prove You’re a stone-cold Pedantic You’re swallowing hard Some Think-Tank invention of you As a Great Cosmic Blunder When this simple Truth: “You are made of Love, Dirt, and Spit,” That was all you ever needed Before. Suddenly, are you needing more? Let’s just get back to that First Thing: Hands up! Hands up! Surrender, baby… Hands up! Hands up! Surrender, baby… Hands up! Hands up! Surrender, baby… Keep your eyes wide shut And see with your heart.

James Korzelius – Cannon Blast (Acoustic).wmv

4:21
This fine selection (originally from 2006's "The Chrysalis Years" album, soon to be available @ www.noisetrade.com/MrK) Was written in response to the story of Cortez burning his ships upon arrival to the New World to prevent retreat. If all the Wiki is to believed, the actual burning didn't take place, but... it's a beautiful concept, no? Makeing a clean, irreparable break from the past that's tried so very hard to run you. Words: CANNON BLAST Music and Lyrics: James Korzelius ©Copyright 2006 James J. Korzelius II You drank life in once upon a time But it took your head like too much wine And perhaps you lost all sense of spine and buckled Now that which you adored the most It has left you hollow as a ghost And it beats you like a nun aiming for knuckles On the wall is the shadow of the thing that you've become When you turn and look upon it, man, it scares you and you run You're on the Lido Deck of the good ship lollipop sucker and, man, that's never fun It's time to sink that ship at last Bring on the cannon blast. The Captain tells you, "Hard o' Port" But Starboard seems the easier course And soon you're in a whirlpool of faces Your world is crashing all around You plug your ears to mute the sound Keep your head down and your mouth shut and you'll be aces. You've gotten used to having your head set up to work a certain way What's it matter if the days read night, and nights looking like day You've forgotten how to laugh out loud, forgotten how to pray It's time to sink that ship at last Bring on the cannon blast You've been away too long Tossing on the choppy waves of self-doubt Let Mercy sing Her song Rescue you from drowning in the sea Take some time alone, aside From all the heartache in your life And ask yourself the tough ones you've been skipping Because you and me ain't the only ones who struggle with the past We kick against the hard times and try to make the good times last But the flag that yesterday sends up can only fly half mast It's time to sink that ship at last Bring on the cannon blast

James Korzelius – Peter Goes Fishing.wmv

4:22
Originally from the 2004 album "Free" (available NOW @ www.noisetrade.com/MrK) here is a random, acoustic version of "Peter Goes Fishing (Coming Soon)" Read the last chapter of the Gospel According to St. John. Gets me every time. Lyrics: I... Me... That's all I think about lately. You Must be Just a little frustrated with me How could I act so bling When You have been so kind As to open up my eyes? Love Truth I took these things for granted in my youth They fade To grey Paled by the light of other pursuits I cannot mark the day That my spark began to fade And I started getting played. But I think a change is coming soon And I ain't gonna hide This time Once Twice The rooster crowes early tonight How could I let You down? You've always been around To pick this heart up off the ground. And I think a change is coming soon And I ain't gonna hide This time No Peter, do you love me? Go and tend my sheep. Peter, do you love me? Go and feed my lambs. Peter, do you love me? Go and tend my sheep.

James Korzelius – Renew My Strength (Acoustic).wmv

4:34
This face-melter was originally featured on The Best of the Cheesy Home Demos. Check www.noisetrade.com/MrK for download. Chuck Rosinski, I owe you... obviously. I feel like I fell on my face again today Sometimes I wonder how I will ever squeeze down this narrow way. How many times can I mess this up before You tire of cleaning up my mess? Because, if I were You, I'd have cut me off by now. But, I can see that Your ways are not my ways And I can see that Your mercy never fades away And I can see that You don't grow weary when I want to quit the race And I can see that Your love will never change And that You renew my strength I'm really tired of dis-appointing You More than that, You know, inside, it disappoints me to I mean, how many times can I beg for Your forgiveness before true repentance kicks in? If I were You, I'd be awfully tired of this But, I can see that Your ways are not my ways And I can see that Your mercy never fades away And I can see that You don't grow weary when I want to quit the race And I can see that Your love will never change And that You renew my strength And, if I'll wait upon You, You will lift me up on eagle's wings And I'll walk and never faint I'd really love to be self-assured But my only confidence is in Your word Because every time I try to run the race under my own strength I find a pit, and walk right into it (as You know) That's why I'm glad that Your ways are not my ways That's why I'm glad that Your mercy never fades away That's why I'm glad that You don't grow weary when I want to quit the race That's why I'm glad that Your love will never change And that You renew my strength (C) 1996 James Korzelius Music

COME BACK AROUND James Korzelis 2014

4:56
COME BACK AROUND Music/Lyric James Korzelius ©2013 James Korzelius You got hit. You got bruised. You got hung out. You got used. You got caught up in the fight and it left you scarred. You just want to be understood, but you got tripped up in all of that “Should.” Yeah, it’s a hard-fought battle just letting people be who they are. And the Heart-Break that you’re feeling, man, I’m feeling. You know we’re all dealing in our own ways. So, I’m waiting for you to come back around When you bought in, did you give way to a life of catch-phrases and clichés? To a lifetime of learning what’s simple enough for the smallest child? Just deny your flesh, and your own head, And think just like these men instead… Yes, but the fear of their opinions will leave you feeling defiled. And the frustration you’re feeling, man, I’m feeling. That’s still no reason for throwing it all away. So, I’m waiting for you to come back around I know the love that I’m sending you will I hope the light that I leave on for you will guide you home. Because, you could walk your way through this hateful world alone If you wanted to. Yes, that’s surely up to you. But the blind will see, and the mute will speak, and the captive hearts will be set free With or without you. I can’t whither without you. But, when I think about that day when all my shame was washed away I always think of you, just as I’m thinking of you right now, And that Joy, like the sunrise dawning in your eyes… And the love on your lips as you spoke the truth, like you used to do. Come back around I hope the light that I leave on for you Will guide you home.

James Korzelius-The Chrysalis Years.mp4

3:36
The title cut from the "Chrysalis Years" album, available now for download at: www.noisetrade.com/MrK Every morning you rise and shine Hoping only to tow the line You wrap your legs in your fading jeans You hit the kitchen and you grind the beans You check the paper for the death toll From a world spinning out of control You shake your head and say, "It isn't right. Shouldn't no one be alone tonight." You need to take a break You're stepping on a rake, son. Can't you feel it burning in your soul You bought a ticket for a Rocket Train Heading West toward the silver rain You needed shelter from your "Inner Peace" Because you'd found it's turned to Apathy Put on your walking boots and headed down They seated you right next to Jackson Brown You brought your guitar but you can't play You could never tune it anyway You need to make a run Into the sun, baby Don't you see it burning in the sky You could take a walk under the sky And let the sad clouds open up and cry And let that saline wash away the fears From the Chrysalis Years gone by So every morning you rise and shine With little hope of towing the line You need some shelter from your inner peace Because, more or less, it's turned to lethargy The world around you is spinning out of control You wrap a cocoon around your soul It's tough to crack, but it's time to try Then float away like a butterfly

James Korzelius BIG DUMB ROCK SONG 2014

4:01
I was in a rock and roll band called SoulEVER for about 9 months from March of 2007 until, uh… well… let’s say that the ending of the thing was less clear than it’s beginning. The whole experience was a Love-Child, sired by myself and my very best friend Jesse Molé. Jesse found one of the greatest drummers I have ever known, Bradley Thomas Jones, who knew and worked with a killer bassist named Scott Leslie (a monument... a master,) and together we hatched a plan to take over the world. Like all great rock and roll bands, we had fights. I caused most of them. I was arrogant (well, every wannabe rock star must be arrogant in order to succeed in one of the most arrogant businesses on Earth) and once said to Bradley, “I could poop out an album full of Big Dumb Rock Songs in a week if we were in a decent studio…” Well, Bradley... you should know that I very intentionally cleared my schedule for a week and set out to do just what I said, and THIS is the only song I wrote all week. So, as in so many other ways, I was wrong, my friend. But this is still fun to listen to. Thank you, gentlemen. BIG DUMB ROCK SONG Here’s some fuzzy guitar To get things moving along… And here are some rolling triplets On a giant tom-tom And, here’s the bass guitar… Well, the bass is all you need; Or, we could add some intentionally-pretentious And sloppy lead. All the boxes checked Formulaically. I’m not playing this song… No, it’s playing me. This is track number five On my latest CD. One through four are the ‘Hits,’ (such as they are,) And nine through twelve are the deep, and spiritually meaningful ones for me. But on five, six, seven, and eight, I just need something that will keep you engaged. So, I’m phoning this in and I’m crapping this out, Because, it doesn’t matter what I say. Checked my formulae I’ve done everything Now, it’s Chorus-time. Clear your throat and sing: Here’s a Big Dumb Rock Song, It’s here and it’s gone. Here’s a Big Dumb Rock Song To move things along. It’s a Big Dumb Rock Song… Will you sing along with the Unexpected break in the Chorus? Here’s another half verse: It’s sung much the same way. But, no one cares about the melody anyway. It’s really all about the Swagger & Sway. All the boxes checked Formulaically. I’m not playing this song… No, it’s playing me. Here’s a Big Dumb Rock Song, It’s here and it’s gone. Here’s a Big Dumb Rock Song To move things along. It’s a Big Dumb Rock Song… Will you sing along with the Unexpected break in the Chorus? Music/Lyric James Korzelius ©2012 James Korzelius

THE LETTER-VIDEO.wmv

3:07
Dear Barry, I thought I'd write you this letter and try to explain some recent, extraordinary events that changed a few things. Including how I see life, in general. You've been my dearest of friends these last few years as things seem to have gotten more harried. You can see it in the songs that I've written. In my indecision. In the lack of vision inside of me. You know how things have been lately: Hectic. Crazy. I've barely had time to breathe. Yeah, I've been out of control. I've been tossed on the winds of a raging sea. I've been complaining a lot about a hole in my heart; that "weight" that I just can't carry. I've looked everywhere for someone who can handle the load down this dark road. Remember how I said once, "We've got to let this thing run it's course." Well, it just got worse. I've tried to turn the page on my own, but the truth is: We can't do it alone. And so, it was three in the morning (in the back booth of that greasy restaraunt that I like) in the middle of a heated debate about life, love and hate (and changing the world.) Someone asked me how I got SO idealistic; so eager to change things, just as long as the change isn't in ME. That's when I saw, for the first time, that you can't offer "freedom" if you've never known REAL liberty. So, I'm running into the arms of freedom, and peace, and into the arms of the One who offers Liberty. I have indeed found the answer to killing the cancer that's been ravaging our souls: I've given my life to Jesus, who loves us and frees us. And I just thought you ought to know. with sincere love, James
